Terms of Service
Effective Date: July 31, 2026 Last Updated: September 3, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Pewnote mobile application ("Pewnote", "the App", "the Software") provided by Pewbeam Technologies Limited, trading as Pewbeam ("Pewbeam", "we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Pewnote, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
1. Overview
Pewnote is the mobile companion to the Pewbeam desktop application. When a church using Pewbeam publishes a sermon, members receive it in Pewnote as a structured note with a quiz. Members can also take private notes, and — where no Pewbeam operator is present — personally record a sermon and receive a transcript-derived note, quiz, and devotional.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to use Pewnote. By using the Software, you represent that you meet this requirement.
3. License to Use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use Pewnote on devices you own or control, solely for your personal use.
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of Pewnote
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the Software
- Distribute, sublicense, lease, rent, or lend the Software to third parties
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices, labels, or marks on the Software
- Use the Software for any unlawful purpose
4. Pewnote Plus Subscription
4.1 Subscription Plans
Pewnote offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, Pewnote Plus, available as:
- Monthly — $4.99 per month
- Yearly — $49.99 per year
Pricing may vary by region and is displayed in your local currency in the App Store at the time of purchase.
4.2 Free Trial
Each Pewnote Plus plan is preceded by a 1-week free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically and payment is charged as described below.
4.3 Payment, Renewal, and Cancellation
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, and at the end of the free trial if you have not cancelled.
- Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
- You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your App Store account settings, on your device.
- Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a Pewnote Plus subscription, where applicable.
4.4 Billing Is Handled by Apple
All purchases and subscription management for Pewnote Plus are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to, and cannot process, your payment card details. Questions about a specific charge, refund, or billing issue should be directed to Apple through the App Store — see Apple's support pages for requesting a refund. We are not able to issue refunds directly for App Store purchases.
5. Personal Sermon Recording
Where your church has no active Pewbeam operator, Pewnote lets you personally record a sermon and receive a note generated from the transcript and your own typed notes. Recording and transcription always happen after you end the recording session — Pewnote does not provide live or streaming transcription. See our Privacy Policy for details on how recorded audio and transcripts are handled.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to record sermon audio in the setting where you use this feature.
6. Bible Translation Content
Pewnote displays Bible text from the King James Version, which is in the public domain. You may use Pewnote's scripture display for personal study and note-taking. You may not extract, scrape, or bulk-copy Bible text from Pewnote for use outside the Software, or redistribute bundled Bible text independently of the Software. If additional translations are added in the future, they will be included under their respective publishers' terms of use.
7. Third-Party Services
Pewnote integrates with the following third-party services. Your use of these services through Pewnote is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies:
- Cloudflare — backend infrastructure, temporary storage for uploaded audio, and Workers AI speech-to-text (server transcription mode)
- OpenAI — generates your sermon notes, quizzes and devotionals, powers the in-app AI chat, and transcribes long audio segments in server transcription mode
- Apple (App Store) — processes Pewnote Plus purchases and subscription renewals
Your content is sent to OpenAI only after you give permission in the App, and you can withdraw that permission at any time from Account → AI & your data. See our Privacy Policy for what is shared and why.
8. User Content
"User Content" includes any data you create or input through Pewnote, including recorded sermon audio, transcripts, typed notes, and chat messages. You retain all rights to your User Content. We do not claim ownership over it. See our Privacy Policy for how User Content is stored, processed, and deleted.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Pewnote to post, transmit, or use as a username or display name any content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable. You also agree not to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party
- Transmit malware, viruses, or any other harmful code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or third-party services
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity of the Software or its related services
We may remove content, revoke access to features, or suspend or terminate your account, without notice, if we determine in our discretion that you have violated this section.
10. Intellectual Property
Pewnote, including its design, code, user interface, documentation, branding, and AI models, is the intellectual property of Pewbeam Technologies Limited and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, service marks, or branding.
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about Pewnote, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, and incorporate that feedback into the Software without obligation to you.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components
- Transcription results will be accurate or complete
- AI-generated notes, quizzes, devotionals, or chat responses will be accurate or complete
Transcription and AI-generated content depend on audio quality, connectivity, speaker clarity, and the underlying AI models, and may produce incorrect or incomplete results.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PEWBEAM TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Pewbeam Technologies Limited and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your use of the Software
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Your User Content
14. Termination
You may stop using Pewnote at any time by deleting your account in Account settings and uninstalling the Software. Turning off auto-renewal or deleting your account does not itself trigger a refund — refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple as described in Section 4.
We may suspend or terminate your access to Pewnote at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, including for violations of Section 9. Sections 8, 10, 11, 12, and 17 survive termination.
15. Updates and Changes
We may release updates, patches, or new versions of Pewnote from time to time. Some updates may be required for continued use.
We may modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Software or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of Pewnote after such changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you must stop using the Software.
16. Privacy
Your use of Pewnote is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review the Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.
17. Apple Standard End User License Agreement
Because Pewnote is distributed through Apple's App Store, your use of the Software is also governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Apple's Standard EULA regarding Apple's own terms of service, Apple's Standard EULA governs.
18. General Provisions
18.1 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
18.2 Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Pewnote shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with applicable arbitration rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
18.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
18.4 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Apple's Standard EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and Pewbeam regarding the use of the Software.
18.5 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
18.6 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
